After 30 minutes in a "dolmuş" (local bus) from the nearest town, we still needed 3 hours walking around without a map and crossing rope bridges in a mountainous landscape during the hazelnut season. Then we reached a point on a road 150 meters from DCP 41N 39E.
That was just the beginning of the challenge. Between the road and the DCP situated 200 m below, there was thick vegetation on a steep slope (average: more than 45°). I decided to go there alone.
Hazel trees were planted on the gentle slopes so that I sled down the steep slopes by bypassing the hazel plantation in a kind of bramble jungle. Without a machete, I came down the 200 m distance in more than 40 minutes and reached the DCP between the forest and a hazel plantation (10 m accuracy GPS)...
On the way back, I could hear people from the other side of the valley shouting something like "WOOoo... WOOOooo..." I suddenly remembered what a previous visitor was saying about his attempt to visit this DCP in August 2004: "We didn't want to put our lives to risk, since the forest we were in is known to home a high population of boars and wolves..." WOOoolves !!??!! WOOOOOO... only 10 minutes to climb up the distance...
I realised but later that those people were only responding the calls of my girl-friend Eveline waiting for my return to the road.
